When camping with the entire family, there’s no better way to bring the whole crew together than to go for a bike ride! And there’s no better way to make sure everyone can keep up than to ride Pedego ebikes!

Pedego Edmonton owners Seann and Michelle Childs recently loaded up for a camping trip with family including four teens and Michelle’s 80-year-old dad who was celebrating his birthday! They’d all chipped in to purchase him the brand new Pedego Fat Tire Trike and he loved it!

In addition to the Fat Tire Trike, the crew had the new Pedego Moto and two Pedego Avenue ebikes along for the adventure

“What impressed me the most was how easeful e-biking was as a multi-generational activity. It was incredibly special,” says Michelle. “The teens were riding alongside my dad, and it gave everyone a way to explore that would not have been possible without the bikes, especially for my dad.”

The family camping weekend took place northeast of Edmonton at Long Lake Provincial Park. The lake is long and narrow (hence its name) with a beautiful trail that follows the shoreline.

“It was wonderfully peaceful next to the water. The summer season is early, and we were treated burgeoning vegetation and flowers blooming next to the trail. The wild roses were in full blossoms and smelled amazing. Wild strawberries lined the trails and chipmunks scurried along which the kids loved,” says Michelle. “There is something about experiencing the smells and sights of nature that is just so calming.”

Michelle explains her lovely Pedego family used RVs for their family getaway weekend. So, the ebikes made it easy to leave their vehicles parked in their sites and run into town for supplies like ice and firewood. Racks, panniers, and the bucket of the Fat Tire Trike served their designed utilitarian purpose. This really highlighted the ebikes’ multi-functional purpose alongside all the fun the campers were having.

Michelle is thrilled that Papa enjoyed his camping weekend and loves his new Fat Tire Trike. She describes the experience as a new core memory for her – it was that meaningful.

“He had so much fun on those trails – the ups and downs, bumps, twists and turns, and of course the stunning views,” she describes. “But he also loved opening it up on the road back to the campsite, where it was smooth and fast, and he could feel the wind on his smiling face. I am constantly amazed at the ability of that fat tire trike to handle anything my dad can throw at it. It has great range and whips up and down hills like a champ.”

“I think my most favorite thing about this weekend was seeing the smile on my dad’s face as he ripped around on that trike. The freedom it allowed him to explore matched his adventurous spirit.”

Creating Meaningful Core Memories

Pedego loves this concept that became popular through the hit movie about big feelings called Inside Out. It really hits on our philosophy of embracing life through experience.

There are several ways to intentionally create meaningful core memories. Here are some strategies based on research and expert advice:

  1. Harness the Power of Firsts: Novel experiences are extra “sticky” in our memory filing cabinets. Visiting a new place every year or trying something new can help create more “firsts” in your life.
  2. Make it Multi-Sensory: Engage all your senses. A cookie dipped in tea, for example, can be a powerful memory trigger. Look for opportunities to slow down and let food make the memories for you.
  3. Pay Attention: Engage your attention. The more you focus on an event, the more likely you are to remember it.
  4. Create Meaning: Add personal significance to your experiences. This could be through understanding the context, relating it to your own life, or finding a lesson in it.
  5. Add Emotions: Let your emotions be a highlighter. High emotional states can make experiences more memorable.
  6. Experience Highs and Lows: Capture peaks and valleys. The most intense positive or negative moments in an experience, as well as the final moments of an experience, are often what we remember most.
  7. Share Stories: Talk about your experiences. Sharing stories can help solidify memories.
  8. Outsource Memories: Take photos or keep a journal. These can serve as tangible reminders of past experiences.

Remember, the goal is not to create a perfect memory, but to foster a deeper connection with your experiences and the people around you. Creating core memories is about more than just remembering – it’s about living fully and intentionally.
