Pedego Electric Bikes Ottawa Brings E-Bikes to Canada’s Capital City

April 21. 2022

(L-R) Rémi Gagnon, Ben the bike mechanic and Daniel Crevier get out of the city on their Pedego electric bikes. A new store is open this spring in Ottawa on Dalhousie Street next to the ByWard Market.

Pedego Ottawa is ready to bring the electric biking experience to riders with its new store located in the heart of downtown.

Opening its doors on May 1, 2022, the store will feature sales, rentals and bike servicing at its impressive 4,000-plus square foot space on Dalhousie Street next to the ByWard Market. Pedego offers a comfortable, reliable and fun riding experience backed by an in-store customer care promise, making it the number one selling brand of electric bike in North America.

Pedego Electric Bikes began in California in 2008 and quickly became the largest electric bike retailer in the United States. Certain Canada was the perfect place for electric bikes, Mike Clyde started Pedego Canada in 2010 headquartered in the beautiful yet hilly Nelson, British Columbia. Today, business is thriving with 16 Pedego brand stores booming across Canada.

“We are thrilled to be opening up shop in Ottawa and that we are able to add to our Pedego store line up during these turbulent pandemic times,” says Clyde. “The demand for electric bikes continues to grow with more and more people investing in two-wheeled transportation. Not only is it a solution to rising gas prices, but electric bikes also enrich people’s lives.”

Pedego Ottawa is owned and operated in part by Rémi Gagnon who is passionate about what electric bikes do for the personal riding experience and how they transfer mileage from the car to the bike reducing green house gas emissions.

Gagnon is excited his store is opening such an accessible, fun and bike friendly area of the city.

“We are in the heart of Ottawa and Gatineau. And in the heart of the country. Literally all the bike paths of the region lead to the ByWard Market,” he says. “Tourists can take advantage of our rentals and guided tours. People can take the bus to our store, shop for their bike and get back home on it super easily. Or they will pedal to the shop, leave their bike for a tune up and enjoy some shopping.”

Pedego Ottawa will also be offering valet parking for Pedego owners “so they can park somewhere safe and indoors while they go shop, eat or play in the vibrant ByWard Market area. People will be more inclined to leave the car in their garage.”

Gagnon is also the owner of Pedego Montebello along with Rémi Tremblay and Daniel Crevier. They have been working with small electric vehicles since 2013 offering guided tours and rentals. Frustrated with a lack of reliability and absence of support, Gagnon was leery of selling any of the products he’d encountered. When he discovered Pedego electric bikes, he was impressed by the overall quality of construction, comfort, and playful design along with the five-year warranty.

“We received the bikes, and we were amazed about the overall quality of construction, and for the first time we discussed between colleague and said ‘That’s a product we are proud to sell. That is something different,’” he says.

For a friendly and easy-going electric bike buying experience head to 316 B Dalhousie Street in Ottawa. This spring, Pedego is also opening new stores in Victoria and Toronto. To learn more about Pedego Electric Bikes available across Canada, go to pedegoelectricbikes.ca
